Go Ahead ! Tell me I'm wrong if you think so, but have the courage to stand by your beliefs. If you believe something it shouldn't matter that I believe something else. Make your point.
Okay, I really want to try this. In my opinion, discussion and debate are essential to keep the USA free and informed. It's what makes us who we are, the ability to disagree and present opposing viewpoints. I want to see if we can get everyone to respond to these questions WITHOUT any of the typical crap we hear day in and day out through media sources. Just your (hopefully informed) opinions. Maybe we can air it out since I'm getting more and more angry and think maybe if I talk to people about the issues, without all the idiotic stuff I have to dig through on most sites, I'll understand what the other side sees, a perspective I'm missing completely at the moment. Oh, and if you want to add questions we can add anything you want to talk about.
The Rules:
1. You are not allowed to use "candidate speak" (ie. maverick, devisive, distraction, ginning up, caribou barbie, etc.)
2. NO RHETORIC! Use your words not theirs and if you give info back it up, don't just say the candidate said so because they have both lied and been caught and while one claims he isn't a politician, they both are.
3. NO NAME CALLING!! Of candidates or each other, and most of all not of me.
4. Answer based on the PRES candidate, unless/until one of them dies we're stuck with these two.
5. I'm right !!! Just kidding, well ... mostly kidding.

McCain - age is his biggest issue, although I think he is healthy and it shouldn't be an issue; Obviously his
Achilles heel is being a Republican and everyone trying to link him to Bush instead of seeing the changes he can bring.
Obama's weakness is his lack of experience and his Ahilles Heel is his associlations with radicals which quite frankly scares me to death,
They both have weaknesses just like all of us do; McCain's age, temper, wealth, and attitude are weaknesses to me.
Obama's lack of experience is a weakness, but he isn't afraid to go to the experts for advice (Buffett, Powell, Clinton, etc).
I don't think McCain's age is an issue, I'll ask his mom what she thinks though.
McCain's weakness is that he's too conservative. Even though he isn't leaning far enough for some Rep's he's still not moderate enough for me. Social programs serve a purpose and should be part of any plan and not limited to those the church might approve of.
Obama's weakness is that he's so liberal that he doesn't even belong in the Dem party. His agenda reads like a personal wish list and it shouldn't. It should be a realistic attempt at policy.
I have to add, Mom, that having a temper isn't a bad thing. Acting on it is. I want someone who gets mad when things aren't right. His wealth, lol, you're kidding right? Having wealth isn't a weakness, wielding it like a sword is. He doesn't do that. You are a fan of the Kennedy's so you can't wave the wealth flag around on McCain without being hypocritical.
I have come to the conclusion that Obama's biggest problem is that he is too idealistic. He wants everything fixed text book style and the world doesn't operate that way, in anything. He is incapable of bringing change unless it is to his idealistic standards and that isn't going to happen, ever. And Sandi, NcCain is more liberal than most Republicans. The liberals used to say he was the one republican they could stand behind but oh my what a different story now. I find it pathetic that most liberals can find nothing positive about McCain or Palin. And no it isn't the same on both sides. I have heard McCain stand up for Obama, it was on the news at one of his rally's. But you never hear Obama saying anything decent about the Republicans, he is incapable of it
OK... just in response to Aunt Sue's last comment... I haven't had time to think about the whole issue yet. But McCain was the one Republican that the liberals could stand behind, it's not a different story now.... It's a different McCain. I would have voted for McCain had he run in the last election, and almost decided to vote for him in this one. I just made up my mind about 2 days ago because McCain has gone back too far to the right for me. I personally am not fond of either candidate and I am sick to death of politicians in general... I'd prefer Joe Blow from down the street be in the White House at this point. I don't believe any of them and trust them even less. I love America but I truly despise our government at this point... I think I am becoming an anarchist...
I agree with Bridget; I, too, liked McCain several years ago, but he has changed. I recently heard a speech he made a few years back talking about taxes much in the same way Obama is now (was he a socialist then??). Everyone has a right to vote the way that best suits them and I just don't think I can vote for the new McCain.
LOL, yes, he admits that he is changing, have you seen the deficit? That's the point, someone HAS to put the brakes on spending. He fully admits that the republicans changed when they got control and started spending like Democrats. He's making sense. This family should actually get it. Obama's going to do with the US finances what so many have done in our family, spend and owe until there's no way out. Haven't you learned anything from personal experience? Responsible spending and cutting back on spending are the answers not throwing more money down the drain.
