Question 7: $1 + $1 = more taxes

Tax policy and economic plans. Why is your candidate right and is it fair to do either :

a. Take money from people who earned it and "spread it around"

or

b. let the rich get richer and the poor get poorer

Middle ground anyone?

I don;t like Obama's plan, it is borderline Socialism. McCains is not the best either but has a more workable basis, I saw something on TV from some bipartisan group and I will check it out it said Obamas plan is the worse of the 2 - McCains would actually have twice as many cuts for everyday people as Obama'a

I don't necessarily feel that we need to take everyone's money and give to those who don't want to work and care for themselves; we need a happy medium; however, I don't think all those big companies and wall street thieves should get all the breaks either. I am more tuned in to the middle working class than all the rich folks.

I agree, neither is ideal but when in doubt leave the money with the people and let them distribute it.

Obama does want to give money earned by some to those that didn't earn it. That's just wrong.

I will not be popular with this opinion, I'm sure, but it's mine. This country was founded because we were being taxed but not represented. Taxation without representation. The horrifying thing is that after 200+ years we now have .... Representation without Taxation. People live their lives without paying a dime in Federal taxes and get the benefits and the rights that somebody else works hards to pay for. If you don't pay taxes you shouldn't get to help decide how they get spent or who spends them. In any other situation people would see that as fair so I can't understand why it isn't fair in this case.

Join a gym, pay the fee, vote for no raise in gym fees and then find out that somebody who uses the gym but doesn't have to pay a fee voted to raise the fee to get a new sauna. It'd piss you off and you can't deny it. Voting is a right we earn by being citizens and paying taxes. That needs fixed.

Why we let people who pay nothing decide that others should pay more to allow them to continue to pay nothing is beyond me. How screwed up is that system?

To prove my point about taxes, OPEC has said that they are slashing production and if oil prices continue to fall they'll slash them further. The thought from them is that if they make it harder to get it will drive the price back up. So why do so many not see that if you tax corporations they won't just make less money, they'll pass it on to the consumer and we'll be paying more in the end than we would have paid on taxes? Companies are in business to make money, taxing them doesn't accomplish anything more than causing them to raise their prices, lay off or slow hiring, slash benefits, and at worst, move from the US altogether. It doesn't take an economic genius to figure that out so why are so many buying into Obama's baloney?

Go Ahead ! Tell me I'm wrong if you think so, but have the courage to stand by your beliefs. If you believe something it shouldn't matter that I believe something else. Make your point.

Okay, I really want to try this. In my opinion, discussion and debate are essential to keep the USA free and informed. It's what makes us who we are, the ability to disagree and present opposing viewpoints. I want to see if we can get everyone to respond to these questions WITHOUT any of the typical crap we hear day in and day out through media sources. Just your (hopefully informed) opinions. Maybe we can air it out since I'm getting more and more angry and think maybe if I talk to people about the issues, without all the idiotic stuff I have to dig through on most sites, I'll understand what the other side sees, a perspective I'm missing completely at the moment. Oh, and if you want to add questions we can add anything you want to talk about.

The Rules:

1. You are not allowed to use "candidate speak" (ie. maverick, devisive, distraction, ginning up, caribou barbie, etc.)

2. NO RHETORIC! Use your words not theirs and if you give info back it up, don't just say the candidate said so because they have both lied and been caught and while one claims he isn't a politician, they both are.

3. NO NAME CALLING!! Of candidates or each other, and most of all not of me.

4. Answer based on the PRES candidate, unless/until one of them dies we're stuck with these two.

5. I'm right !!! Just kidding, well ... mostly kidding.
